Concept drawing for Studio Entrance Sign presenting company logo and intimating the frames which are the basic element of all video and film work. The tower measured approximately 8' tall.
Identification and Directional Signage: These signs were designed to passively feature an illuminated, chamfered edge by taking advantage of acrylic's inherent light channeling property – gathering ambient light on its face and redirecting it toward its edges. Sub-surface type is protected from normal maintenance routines and is easily changed once the sign face is removed.
Custom, adjustable size compartments house all components for this owner who wants to see the equipment. The TV base is hidden inside the center module, behind the subwoofer.
Accessible media storage, close at hand, is an important part of the Entertainment Center.
CUSTOM BROADCAST EDIT SUITE
Technical Furniture Design for Turner Broadcast's Post Production facility. Part of Turner Studios, in addition to the Operator Console, this suite has a comfortable workstation behind the Operator where the client can monitor and direct all creative developments.
DEMOUNTABLE SOUND ENCLOSURE
This is where the oversight of all broadcast activity is maintained and where critical decisions are made. Each Supervisor monitors two networks simultaneously in this soundproof, demountable enclosure.
WHAT YOU DON'T SEE WHEN YOU WATCH TV
This is the control console for all broadcasts from this particular TV network – in this case, TNT. It was custom designed to house hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of technical broadcast control equipment. All critical components have a backup unit that must be accessible immediately in the event of any failures. "Dead air" must be avoided at all costs!
THE HEART OF TURNER BROADCAST
Here you can see the redundant Broadcast Consoles and the sound-isolated Supervisor module at the back of the room on the left of the photo.
A simple, utilitarian design for an artist's drawer base unit – several shallow drawers give quick access to small items while a single, large drawer comfortably holds client project files.
Elegant Shower Entrance
Concept drawing for an upscale steam-shower enclosure in one of Atlanta's more prominent homes. The custom Wisteria design was carved into the glass on both front & back surfaces to add dimension to the graphics. This theme was designed to elevate to the Art Nouveau character of the bathroom.
Some ideas require the skilled hand of a talented artist. This is a small detail of the carved glass for an elegant shower entry. Beautifully crafted for the project by Sand Lyon Studio, the wisteria flowers are tinted with just a wisp of color using mica powders which are fused to the 3/4" glass doors.
The bathroom for which this vanity was designed is so tiny that the vanity itself is used as a spatial division between the sink area and the tub. The taller (and slightly deeper) section of the cabinet performs that task while making room for lots of additional storage for the owners. You can see a Before & After of this bathroom HERE.
A MASSIVE APPEARANCE
This island in a small kitchen serves not only to house the sink and dishwasher, but it's also the theme setting element for the design. An Arts and Crafts era detailing is applied to the timber framed construction in white oak.
This custom bathroom entry door pair is essentially a two dimensional, graphic element introducing the Art Nouveau flavor of the Master Bathroom. Fabricated in sustainable lyptus wood, it is the center of three elements which anchor the Art Nouveau character of the space. The custom vanities flanking either side of the doors complete the ensemble. You can CLICK HERE to see the entire installation in the Bathrooms section of the Eastlight Portfolio.
HAND CARVED ELEGANCE
Although entirely new, this kitchen hood mantle, was designed to look like an antique. The ornately carved corbels and trim make a strong traditional statement.
HAND CARVED ELEGANCE
A view of the entire hood mantle... notice how its red finish contrasts with the rest of the kitchen's cabinetry. This helps to make the mantle the focal point of the kitchen.
HAND CARVED ELEGANCE
To further the impression of age, a delicately painted botanical flourish was added to the center panel in gold paint which was deliberately distressed to look old and faded.
Custom concepts require specially constructed communication. In this case, a materials board shows the relationships between selected materials for a kitchen design. This type of presentation is essential to making sure that everyone sees developments with the exact same perspective.
